EcoElement™ 3.5 mil White EVOH PE Thermal Sealant can be combined with a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or machine direction polyethylene (MDOPE) print web to create recyclable flexible packaging made entirely of polyethylene (PE). Converters can also laminate this product to other print web materials to serve as a sealant, although the resulting package will not be recyclable. Ethylene-vinyl alcohol (EVOH) is extruded into the film to give it moisture and gas barrier properties. Its white appearance is created by extruding titanium dioxide in the PE blend and has no effect on the performance of the film.
This structure includes a PE core as well as two thermally activated PE layers: a top adhesive layer for thermal lamination with a print web and a bottom heat-sealable layer for shaping and sealing. Each heat-sensitive layer activates at a different temperature to ensure they work properly on equipment. Conventional converters can use this product as a sealant layer using solventless lamination.
